The Council of United Circassia is closely and attentively following the process concerning the detention of the Council President, Mr. Selçuk Bağlar, in the Republic of Turkey.

 

As the Council of United Circassia, we have full confidence that the process will be conducted fairly, transparently, and impartially, in accordance with the rule of law and judicial independence principles of the Republic of Turkey. Our sincere hope is that Mr. Selçuk Bağlar will be released at the earliest possible time, without any finding of criminal wrongdoing.

 

According to the preliminary information we have received, the grounds cited for Mr. Bağlar’s detention bear no direct connection to the institutional activities or policies of our Council. As in the past, the Council of United Circassia will continue its work in line with its founding philosophy and core principles, guided by a spirit of transparency, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation with the international community.

 

Our Council remains firmly committed to upholding democratic values, freedom of expression, and the fundamental rights and freedoms of our peoples in all its activities.
