INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
The Circassian Genocide in the Context of History and
Contemporary Politics
17 December 2025, Vilnius, Lithuania

This year, the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania (Seimas) will host an international conference focused on the Circassian Genocide and on contemporary discussions surrounding the restoration of Circassian statehood.
The conference aims to promote historical truth and justice through the recognition of the Circassian Genocide committed by the Russian Empire in the 19th century, to raise awareness among policymakers and the public, and to strengthen international cooperation on issues of human rights and historical memory, including the oppression during the Soviet era and in the current Russian Federation.
Distinguished participants will include members of the Lithuanian Parliament, representatives of the Circassian community and diaspora organizations from across the world, academics, human rights advocates, journalists, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The working languages of the conference will be Lithuanian and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided. The event will also be broadcast live online.
Information will be shared as it becomes available.
